Hi everyone! I would like to start off by wishing everybody a Happy St Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, March 17th. Perhaps you already celebrated over the weekend, maybe planning to celebrate some more, but wear your green if you got it!
I dropped these magnets on my Facebook page last Thursday, and am just now getting to posting them on the website.
My MO so far seems to be (with every good intention in the world) posting my Holiday magnets within a week of the actual major Holiday instead of, oh I dunno, a month or so beforehand so that people can actually enjoy their Holiday magnet/adornment in the weeks leading up to it. I need to get better at planning ahead with all of this.
Without further ado, here are the St Patrick’s magnets I’ve created for this year.
I have also been busy trying a new creation method: wax seal magnets. These are only $2 a piece and at the size of a postage stamp, cute as a button! I made a bunch using some glittery shamrock stickers, and some cut up flower stickers as well. Once the frozen tundra melts and Spring goes into full effect, I am looking forward to foraging through our backyard to see if I can pluck any real flower petals to dry and use in these. There, will lie the real magic. But for now, these stickers have sufficed just as well. I have been having so much fun playing around and melting all different colors of wax. So many colors to choose from! I also couldn’t believe it, but these teeny tiny magnets still have the power to hold stuff up on your fridge. I had to test it out and was quite surprised. So not just an adornment, but functional too ;)
Mark and I recently took our annual Winter trip to Colorado for him to go skiing in the Mountains instead of the puny Minnesota hills. I mean, you can’t even compare the two. Our dream is to plant roots and move there, but certain things, circumstances, the stars, you name it, all need to align first in order to make our dream come true. If you’re rooting for us, please keep us in your thoughts while we navigate our next steps. It is a long overdue move, and it feels like home for us there.
I took a ton of pictures on the trip and I think that some of them would make really awesome magnets. I will be posting those as soon as they are completed: A Colorado Collection!
I want to post a sincere THANK YOU to my friends in real life. Even though I don’t have pay links on my website for the public to buy anything yet, and MagnaKatie has been growing, but slowly, you all personally reaching out to me for custom orders to be made has reinforced the belief within me that this IS actually a really good idea, and not a waste of time like I sometimes feel/wonder it may be. You guys give me faith that eventually MagnaKatie can grow even bigger. I also want to thank those who give me ideas for other types of magnets I can make in the future. That’s the thing I love most about MagnaKatie and the name. It isn’t limiting. It doesn’t force me to stick to the same style of magnet 100% of the time. I can make any type of magnet and it still makes sense/fits the name! For this, it makes me very excited for future growth.
So what’s next? I would say the Colorado Collection, working with Mark to add PayPal links to my site, and then creating Easter magnets WELL BEFORE EASTER. Let’s see… Easter is Sunday, April 5th this year. That means I should be making them NOW. All this, on top of a full time job where my energy battery just drains and drains. Sometimes I wish I could quit and just focus 100% on MagnaKatie. The ideas that flow through my head are like a never ending stream, dying to come to fruition, but quitting the day job is in no way feasible right now, most likely not ever. I will say, the nights I do end up working on magnet creations after work, I never end up regretting it. It puts me in a good mood for the rest of the night and into the following days to come. Creating makes me happy.
A girl can dream though!
Magnetically yours,
Katie <3
