Hello all, and Happy Spring and Happy Easter! (Sunday, April 5th)
I don’t have much to update you on this time around, as not much has changed since my last post. I am happy to welcome in Spring and it’s been so nice to still see daylight after my day job, which I find is more conducive to crafting than staring outside into the darkness has been. I hope that this Spring renewal energy stays with me so that I can keep on moving forth. Some days feel harder than others. Some days I want to craft and create to my hearts content from the time I clock out of work until it’s time to start dinner, and others I just simply want to sink into a hole and become a shell of myself. Duality at it’s finest.
But I need this SPRING energy to take me forward! I need that snake and it’s shedded skin (still shedding, I think) to slink away in its stupid little hole, and allow the fire horse energy of 2026 to emerge! I am feeling the stress and pressure of knowing I need to do a lot to add onto and vamp up my Website, and I feel that this will definitely need to be my focus in the upcoming months over creating new items. Once I feel good about the Website and it’s e-commerce abilities/user interface, it will be a weight lifted off my shoulders, allowing for more new magnet creations to arrive. And it’s just about time to look for some Spring craft fairs that don’t cost an arm and a leg to join! So even though the main Holidays do die down for a little bit (except for Mother’s Day next month, then Father’s Day the following), I will still be busy with MagnaKatie behind the scenes. Not to mention, all the other tasks need to be tended to on the home front (cleaning/decluttering/organizing/garage sale/and every day chores don’t ever end) – I feel like I am and will continue to be pretty consistently busy. Sometimes, it’s honestly really overwhelming.
I made a mix of styles this time around: hand painted, printed design, and wax seals. The wax seals were fun to play around with because I mixed some colors together to create a tie-dye effect for some of them. It was kind of like dying Easter Eggs! It was hard to find Easter stickers that were small enough for these seals, so I put my thinking cap on and found some Easter nail decals! They worked perfectly for what I had in mind :)
Here are my printed designs. “Go God!” is one of my Mom’s favorite sayings, basically praising God for all the good he provides; the miracles, the blessings, the unexpected surprises – she had this as her license plate, and she put it on a pillow she made, and I created a larger hand painted version of it for her birthday as a gift. I am hoping that others will like her coined sentiment as well, so I made a smaller version of it for magnets!
“Hanging With The Cool Chicks” was just something fun I put together. I was trying to think of Easter puns, and I thought of chicks, and saw some sunglasses browsing through my Canva elements page and just put 2 and 2 together. Cool chicks! Plus it was fun to make because as someone who never really fit in anywhere growing up, and even still today, I never really got the opportunity to hang with the cool chicks lol, so, living vicariously through magnets I suppose.
“I wanna dance with some bunny” more punny wordplay here. Thought it’d be fun to create a nightclub scene with 2 bunnies dancing in the spotlight. Yep, the song was playing in my head the whole time I was making this one.
And here’s my hand painted designs: some fun bright Easter eggs, some tulips in grass, and a chocolate bunny that looks good enough to eat!
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter! When I was a kid, it was one of my favorites. Hunting for eggs with my brothers was always so much fun and the Easter basket full of candy and trinkets at the end was the icing on the cake. Mom and Dad always put so much thought into it, and made it special for us. Now, being 40 and kid-less, I haven’t experienced that kind of Holiday fun in a long time. So making these Holiday themed magnets has been bringing me joy in a new and different kind of way.
Til next time!
Magnetically yours,
Katie <3
